The Verdict is a Cabernet Sauvignon that brings a lot of intensity to the glass, yet bright, high tones. It’s a wine that will please any fan of the ‘new Napa-style’ for its ripeness and texture though it is an astounding value – something Napa can rarely claim. The grapes come from a “partner in crime” in the Adelaide Hills, where it was another exceptional vintage. The vineyard experienced a very dry and mild summer, leading to a long ripening period for flavor development while maintaining great natural acidity.
The grapes were picked on flavor at optimum ripeness, gently crushed and fermented with inoculated yeast in open-top stainless steel tanks. After about three weeks, the wine was pressed off the skins and was sent to a mix of used 300L French and American oak barrels for 24 months. At that point, the wine was blended in a tank and bottled with fining, filtering, and sulfur.
