‘The Verdict’

Cabernet Sauvignon   |   Adelaide Hills - Australia

About

The Verdict is a Cabernet Sauvignon that brings a lot of intensity to the glass, yet bright, high tones. It’s a wine that will please any fan of the ‘new Napa-style’ for its ripeness and texture though it is an astounding value – something Napa can rarely claim. The grapes come from a “partner in crime” in the Adelaide Hills, where it was another exceptional vintage. The vineyard experienced a very dry and mild summer, leading to a long ripening period for flavor development while maintaining great natural acidity.

The grapes were picked on flavor at optimum ripeness, gently crushed and fermented with inoculated yeast in open-top stainless steel tanks. After about three weeks, the wine was pressed off the skins and was sent to a mix of used 300L French and American oak barrels for 24 months. At that point, the wine was blended in a tank and bottled with fining, filtering, and sulfur.

Tasting Note

Dark plum with a crimson edge. Ripe blackberry, vanilla, and dark chocolate on the nose, then the palate hits with black cherry, red plum, and strawberry. Firm tannins and bright acidity keep it tight, while a plush texture rounds it out.
