"Planted in 1988. One third new oak. Interesting producer of Pinot Noir, is Bindi, wines with plenty of character, although most often you have to like them on the sappy side, that being said, the 2021 Block 5 was incredibly good. And the Chardonnay wines are usually terrific. Review of 2022 Quartz to come.
Red cherry, sweet strawberry, Campari/burnt orange peel, baking spices, cedar, a fair bit of mint too. It’s all sweet poached strawberry infused with spice and orange oil, a bit sappy and minty, kind of juicy and glossy too, a fine graphite grip to tannin, ripe tomato on a finish of good length. It’s a specific style of wine, distinctly Macedon/Australian, and the shape of it is very good. It’s a bit too minty/gum leafy for my tastes, though it’s a wine of distinct character for sure."
