Change is inevitable and when it is positive and works out better for everyone, it is a great thing and something to be admired and replicated. Many winemakers in South Africa are taking this approach with agriculturally and culturally sustainable viticulture and winemaking. It is understated the importance of paying those farmers that take care of their employees more for their grapes knowing that they are able to pay it down the line. Furthermore, identifying burgeoning talent in all places and guiding them along is something that the Cape is taking more and more seriously.
We are pleased to see Banele Vakele of Tembela Wines and Stephanie Wiid & Etienne Terblanche of Thistle & Weed recognized for their quality in the person, bottle and commitment to a more sustainable South Africa.
